The company which owns this holiday rental home in the exclusive resort of Sandbanks, on the Dorset coast, had recently bought the property and wanted to give it a smart but beachy new look. We were tasked with a complete interior remodel, stripping everything back to brickwork, and rewiring, replumbing, and redesigning. This blank canvas led to talks with the owner about making it a luxury pad with an airy, light and fun atmosphere, perfect for families. We agreed on a cleverly designed kids’ room, with an inbuilt bunk bed, as well as further bespoke cabinetry to maximise the interior space.

How we made it work
We’ve created a luxury seaside pad that’s perfect for a family beach holiday in this lovely corner of Dorset.
Once everything had been stripped back to the brickwork, we designed in bespoke cabinetry for the kitchen furniture and installed a Belfast sink and quartz work surface to create a highly practical yet luxurious finish. The glass wall for the main living space lets light flood the property, and brightens what would otherwise be a dark hallway.
The custom-made double bunk bed for the guest room is a very successful design feature, utilising every centimetre of space to create tailor-made stairs and built-in under-bed storage. Finishing touches such as underfloor heating, Sonos sound and electric curtains create the contemporary, playful vibe our client was looking for.
Brilliant bunk up
This design by Rob here at Design’d Living makes the absolute best of the space in this bedroom, and is a real hit with younger guests, who love the inbuilt stairs and the gently lit top bunk. The high-level sockets are super useful for plugging in phones and tablets, too.
